What is Camp Pride Korea?
Camp Pride Korea offers classes, outings and even a sleep over for children from 4 years old through 12th grade. Classes are available for Korean adoptees, their siblings, and children of Korean adoptees. Camp offers exciting, fun, and age-appropriate activities.
Day camp is for ages PreK to 8th grade from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
High school camp is 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a sleepover on Friday evening.
Camp Pride strives to offer culture and community for the entire family. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate by taking on a volunteer role. There is a wide range of opportunities for parents to participate as a volunteer before, during, and after camp. Parents who have been a part of Camp have built lasting friendships with other families and have seen the importance of their children connecting with other Korean adoptees and adoptee families.

High School evening camp. How do they spend their time at camp?
Campers entering 9th through 12th grade are welcome to join a fun and excitement from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Korean culture, food, field-trips, and friends. In the interest of keeping our high school program fresh and relevant, the experiences vary from year to year. Friday night is usually a chaperoned sleepover. Decisions are based on many factors, including the number of campers, availability of venues, past experiences, and the needs of families. The program will include visiting locations that offer teens the opportunity to experience Korean culture. Several adult volunteers will accompany the high school campers.
The 2024 agenda includes:
- Wednesday: Korean Shopping, Dinner, & Bakery Visit, campers get $25 to spend.
- Thursday: Korean BBQ Grilling and Backyard Party
- Friday: Sleepover
- Saturday: Pickup at 10:00 a.m.
In the interest of keeping our high school program fresh and relevant, decisions are based on number of campers, availability of venues, past experiences, and family needs.
High School campers would need to obtain their own transportation. Most outings are in the general direction of Itasca, Illinois. Many parents carpool. For out-of-town guests, there is a hotel, Eaglewood Resort across the street from the Friday night sleepover venue.
Can I volunteer at camp?
Absolutely. Camp is run by volunteers and it is those people who keep this camp going. There are many different positions you can volunteer for the day camp such as cooking, playground supervisor, class leader, camp photographer, camp shopper, or help run our camp store only to mention a few.
